Install & help
📲 Add Aane Alert to your phone
Installing lets you open it like an app — and on iPhone it's required to receive alerts.
On iPhone (Safari)
- Open aane-alert.vercel.app in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an up-arrow) at the bottom.
- Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
- Tap “Add”, then open Aane Alert from the new icon.
⚠️ Alerts only work when you open it from the Home Screen icon, not a Safari tab. Needs iOS 16.4 or later.
🤖 On Android (Chrome)
- Open aane-alert.vercel.app in Chrome.
- Tap the menu (⋮) at the top right.
- Tap “Install app” (or “Add to Home screen”).
- Confirm, then open Aane Alert from the new icon.
❓ Questions
- Do I need an account?
- No. Reporting is anonymous — no sign-up, no phone number.
- How do I get alerts?
- Open the app → Get alerts → tap your area on the map → Turn on alerts → allow notifications.
- Will my exact location be shown to others?
- No. The public map and alerts show only a rough area — never your exact spot, and never who reported. Precise details are for the Forest Department only.
- What if I have no signal when I see an elephant?
- Your report is saved on your phone and sent automatically the moment you're back online. Nothing is lost.
- Notifications aren't arriving — what do I check?
- Make sure you opened the app from the installed Home Screen icon (on iPhone), that you allowed notifications, and that your phone is on iOS 16.4+ or an updated Chrome.
